We estimated response functions with different numbers of randomly chosen images, and for robustness averaged results from five different runs.

Here we show the variation with the number of images, of the RMS and mean absolute errors in estimating the inverse response function for one channel each of three camera models. We found that approximately 50 photographs are needed to get estimation errors of around 2%.
