Game Plan for new MS Students

So what should be your game-plan?

First have a look our MS tracks. You'll probably be choosing one of these as your concentration. See:

The MS program description

IF YOU KNOW WHICH TRACK YOU WANT TO DO...

Choose your first courses according to the track's "pre-requisites" and "required track courses". You'll then be in good shape for completing the track with more advanced courses.

Map out a tentative game plane by browsing through the course requirements of each of the tracks:

IF YOU'RE NOT SURE WHICH TRACK YOU WANT TO DO...

I recommend starting with one or two of the six breadth requirements

which you are required to take 4 from by the end of your program. Note that each track requires specificially a couple of these breadths, but that the courses required differ by track.

Hopefully, by the end of taking the breadth course or courses you'll have a clearer picture of which track you want to take.

IF YOU ALREADY TOOK A COURSE COMPARABLE TO A BREADTH REQUIREMENT....

If you have already taken a breadth requirement at a Senior or Graduate level then you may be able to have that requirement waived. So for example, if you already took a Senior level Artificial Intelligence course at your undergraduate institution, you may be able to have the 4701 requirement left and be left with only three breadths to take. Getting your pre-requisite waived is done through your required MICE account.

BUT I DON'T LIKE ANY OF THE TRACKS...

In the not-so-likely situation that none of the tracks seem to work...

IF YOU WANT TO CARVE OUT YOUR OWN TRACK...

Check out the personalized track (or if the link is broken -as usual- consult with me about it).

IF YOU WANT TO DO LOTS OF RESEARCH...

Check out the thesis track (or if the link is broken -as usual- consult with me about it).

I STILL DON'T UNDERSTAND X...

...then check out our more detailed description or contact me.
