Directions to my Office

I'm located in Room 463 of the Mudd building. The Computer Science entrance requires an
appropriate ID to access. Please use the phone nearby the entrance to call my office number
at 7054 or 7133 if you need help to get in.

Directions to Campus

Directions to New York City, Columbia University and the Computer Science department. Note that taking subway, while costing only $1.50, from JFK Airport could take about two hours, as there's a half-hour shuttle bus ride between the terminal and the Howard Beach/JFK subway station.

By Train

From New Jersey, you can reach Columbia University by train, by taking NJ Transit to 33rd Street and then the 1 or 9 subway. You can also take Amtrak from Boston or Washington, D.C. and stops in between.

By Cab

Ask to be dropped off at 120th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue. The Columbia University complex has two entrances on that street, one towards Amsterdam Avenue in a reddish building called S. W. Mudd that is labeled Engineering Center, the other is CEPSR (also called Schapiro). It is located towards the middle of the block, set back behind a black wrought-iron fence in a whitish building. There is also a pinkish loading dock entrance to its right. Enter the building and take the elevator to the fourth floor. Walk towards the exit on your left and take the elevator to the eighth floor.

If the CEPSR entrance is locked, you can also enter campus through the Engineering Center entrance and proceed to the campus level on the fourth floor. The Computer Science main office is on the left of the elevator bank (as you exit) through a set of blue doors. The CEPSR building with my office is on the immediate right of the Engineering building.

You can expect to pay about $18 from LaGuardia, including $3.50 for bridge tolls. Travel time is unbounded, but unless you get stuck in traffic, it should take about 20 minutes. From JFK airport, the cab fare is fixed (not metered) at $30 plus $3.50 toll for the Triboro Bridge.

By Car

On weekends, free street parking is available on 120th Street, with short-term metered parking generally impossible to find during the week while school is in session. Also, parking passes for evenings and Saturdays can be arranged with the Computer Science front office; other times during the week may also be possible. There are a number of commercial parking garages in the vicinity.
