Wei-Jen Li |
My name is Wei-Jen Li, and I also have an unofficial English name — Larry. Before I came to the U.S., I thought Americans cannot memorize Chinese names so I grabbed one English name that I could find at that time. Except HBO and Discovery, my favorite English channel was CNN. I saw a guy named Larry King. Hmmm, it’s not too bad to be a king, I thought. That’s how it came. Some time later, after making some friends in New York, I found actually people loved my Chinese name. So, I’ve kept the name. In Chinese, its pronunciation is like “Way” “Yung,” and “Li” is the same to “Lee.” Currently, I’m a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at Columbia University. My dissertation topic is “Malicious Document Detection.” I currently focus on malicious Word document detection. In addition to traditional well-known Macro attacks, there are some other selective and stealthy attacks that exploit vulnerabilities in MS Office programs. Basically, I design a hybrid detection system that contains multiple detectors and strategies. More details are on the research page on this site. About my personal interests, I loved traveling, swimming, playing basket ball, snowboarding, playing video games, and loitering on the Web. I loved….before. Now, however, my hobby is working, programming, and living in the office. Yeah, people change. For people who are interested in more details about me, please try the links on the left. |
