Here resides my past and current research
endeavors.
- Network
Computing Laboratory,
Computer
Science Dept, Columbia University, New York City
-
Zap:
a process virtualization technology that seamlessly decouples
general applications from the physical hardware system and the
software operating system. Zap provides fast
checkpoint/restart times to enable application migration, fault
tolerance, load balancing and a slew of other benefits.
- Programming System Laboratory,
Computer
Science Dept, Columbia University, New York City
-
Worklets:
a mobile agent system used as effectors in a larger autonomic
computing infrastructure. Designed and implemented.
- AI2TV:
a system for distributed video synchronization that allows
geographically dispersed participants to collaboratively view a
video synchronously
- Checkpoint Manager: coming soon to
a theatre near you...
- While @ La Univerisidad de Nuevo Mexico
- While at the
Brain and
Computation lab, I was basically a slave to my professors.
I helped design, develop, and maintain software tools for MEG (magnetoencephalography)
data analysis. I conducted analyses on several different data
sets using blind source separation and other signal processing
tools.
-
Flamenco is a passion.
I wish I had more time to study flamenco's complex meaning. While at
UNM, I produced a class with
Eva
Encinias Sandoval about the communication layers involved in
flamenco. We discussed the implications of flamenco as a
vehicle for the Roma to express themselves
- culturally, as a response to continual oppression, and
- musically, through the use of voice, percussion, and melodic
elements from within a flamenco piece.
- Oregon State University
- While at OSU, I volunteered in the
Taylor
Lab where I had the pleasure of observing homosexual male
Drosophila melanogaster form lines to conduct an amusing mating
ritual. I was also given the opportunity to do microscopic
dissections of the fruit fly larva in order to extract their central
nervous system. Those buzzing friends I brought home after
work weren't only an account of my personal hygiene... In addition,
I did immunohistochemical analysis of nervous system issues in
wild-type and fruitless mutant Drosophila melanogaster along with an
evaluation of Drosophila neuronal GFP (green fluorescent protein)
expression patterns from dissatisfaction promoter-Gal4 fusion
constructs.
