| We were so saddened to
hear about Uncle Jack. Laurie left a message on our answering machine.
We will call you Saturday night. Baruch Dayan Emet.
David and I spent some time tonight thinking about all the wonderful
memories and times we have shared with Uncle Jack. I remember arguing
with him about so many issues-he was always ready for a good fight!
I remember his role as peacemaker of the family. Everyone loves
Uncle Jack-Uncle Jack always talks to everyone-noone was ever excluded.
Uncle Jack was good to all the family. If he could he would find
you a job, help you out, just be a Mensch. Michael was his pride
and joy. Uncle Jack often spoke about Michael's brilliance and his
pride at all of Michael's many Academic accomplishments. "Efrat
is good for him," Uncle Jack would say often of their realtionship.
He was so pleased for Michael. Bagel, we will never forget on our
visit to Jacks when Bagel took a nice chomp out of Yasmina's cute
little face! I remember Uncle Jack during every phone call telling
us how proud he was that we were living in Israel, and the his heart
was really in Jerusalem, not Los Angeles. I knew I could always
count on Uncle Jack for stories about the family, he was the gatekeeper-the
person you could turn to for information. Especially since Mom passed
away, Uncle Jack's sense of family history has helped me. We all
loved/love Uncle Jack, his sarcasm, dirty/politiaclly incorrect
jokes, deep belief in G-d, family, and Judaism. I hear his voice
so clearly, "kiss the babies for me" he would end each
conversation. It will be hard to Daven tomorrow and not say a Refuah
Shlemah for Uncle Jack, Yaakov Ben Tzirel.
Ever since Mom passed away, Uncle Jack would tell me every telephone
call we had that she was so proud of me, and "Mama" meaning
Grandma Celia was too. Michael, I just want you to remember also
how proud of you your Dad was and never missed a chance to let everyone
know.
We send all our love and wish we could be there with you at this
time.
