In the concluding scene, when Gilbert asks him why she wants to stay
at Green Gables, she replies "It's just that I went looking for my
ideals outside of myself. I discovered it's not what the world holds
for you, it's what you bring to it. The dreams dearest to my
heart are right here."
A lot like love
Some great dialogues:
"If you are not willing to sound stupid, you don't deserve to be in love",
and then they do some embarassing things.
At one point Emily tells Oliver,
"Just when I am starting to like you, you are moving away."
Great scenes, e.g., when he comes back after losing his business and asks
her for another chance by singing, and she says that she is engaged.
In another scene, they are driving and he starts ranting and complaining
about his ex and she starts singing aloud to distract; and he also
starts singing.
Hellboy
When Hellboy (Ron Perlman) who does not look handsome obviously, is
expressing his displeasure to Liz (Selma Blair) about the way he looks
like, and that she can't relate to him he says: "there are two things
I want you to know, first, I will always look this good, and second I
will never give up on you. never."
Love actually
Hero: that is usually the best part of my day, driving you home.
Heroine: That is usually the saddest part of my day, leaving you.
... It seems to me that love is everywhere. Fathers-son,
mothers-daughters, husbands-wives, boy-friends,
girl-friends,... old-friends... if you look for it. I have a nasty
feeling, you will find that love actually ... is .. all around.
Chalte chalte - new
When Priya (Rani) discloses to Raj (Shahrukh) that she is getting
engaged. After spending the evening when they were leaving she says
"If you want I can drop you on the way". He says "you already did".
(In hindi this sounds more emotional). In another scene: Priya is
leaving to Greece for her engagement. Raj also boards the plane and
surprises her. "I am going to greece too". "I used to hear about this
love story where the heroine leaves and the hero keeps saying if only
he had stopped her one more time." "I don't want to be saying 'if
only' for rest of my life. So i am trying one more time."
Ek rishta
When Akshay Kumar comes back to his dad (played by Amitaabh) he says,
"when I was a kid and I used to do mistakes and when Papa used to get
angry I would just run to him, hug him, and say sorry. Don't know when
my ego became so big that I ran away from home that day. If I had come
to him, hugged him and said sorry, wouldn't he have forgiven me..."
Independence Day
When Jeff (Hero) and Judd (Heroine) were talking after they broke
up. Judd says, "you didn't have ambitions you didn't want to be big
and famous." Jeff, "I had ambitions. I had plans." Judd continues,
"but don't you want to be part of something different something
special..." "I was", interrupts Jeff, "I was part of something
special." They are silent for sometime. Judd can't think of what to do
or what to say. She leaves the place silently as Jeff watches her go
away one more time.
Doli sajaa ke rakhna
Akshay Khanna and Jyothika are in love but their parents don't
approve. Both abduct from home and stay with their friends. Both alone
in a room. Silent for long time. Then Jyothika says, "can I ask you
for something?" "yes" "can we break up?" "yes", the response of
akshay comes so spontaneously as if he was also going to ask the same
question and expecting the same reply. They love each other so
much. But the love for their parents was much more. And they did not
want to make their castle by breaking their parents wishes.
Doli sajaa ke rakhna
Climax scene. Mausami (Akshay's mother) and Jyothika's mother are
talking. When Mausami is about to leave, Jyothika's mother says, "you
have seen my daughter. won't you say anything. blessings." She goes
to Jyothika. Stares for sometime. Turns back and says with tears in
her eyes, "what can I say. she is like my daughter. why don't you give
her to me. I will love her more than a daughter." She replies, "take
her", spontaneously with tears in her eyes too, "I can't see her die
here every day." Mausami came there to return the lost necklace of
Jyothika and returned back with a bride for her son.
Dil to pagal hai
Shahrukh and Madhuri are in love but Madhuri is going to marry Akshay
because her foster parents want that and she is highly indebted to
them. Shahrukh and Madhuri do plays. In one scene, Shahrukh asks,
"tell me once, tell me once looking in my eyes that you don't love
me. tell me once holding my hand that your heart doesn't beat for me."
Both look in each others eyes Then Madhuri says, "no. never. I don't
love you. My heart does not beat for you. no." A brief pause. Then
clappings/applaud from behind as the friends watching the rehearsal
appreciate the actors.
Dilwale dulhania le jayenge
Shahrukh is in love with Kajol. She is going to go back to India and
marry another fellow of her father's choice. She says, "I will get
married soon. Will you come for my marriage." "No. I won''t come.",
he answers as he is walking backwards waving his hand to her. Kajol
feels as if a part of her is leaving forever.
Hum aapke hain kaun
Salman Khan and Satish Shah (his uncle) are playing pool. Uncle in his
usual shayaraana mood speaks up a sher as they are playing. Just then
Madhuri comes down. As she is coming down on stairs Salman asks the
Uncle to say the sher again. "kaate nahi kat te hai lamhe intezar
ke,Kaate nahi kat te hai lamhe intezar ke Nazre jama ke baithe hai
rasthe pe yaar ke,"... Salman continues the rest as he puts the ball
in the hole with back hand "dil ne kaha dekhe jo jalw-e-husn yaar ke
laaya hai koun inhe palak se uthaar ke". The scene shows as if the
site of Madhuri give inspiration and motivates Salman.
Dil to pagal hai
Madhuri has been brought up by her fathers friends after her parents
death when she was a kid. When madhuri just finishes up her reply
(negative) to Akshay's proposal in a tape/cassette, Akshay's mother
(her foster mother) comes in. "Oh I am so glad that you are going to
be my bahu (daughter in law). I knew you will be. But I did not want
to force you. I wanted you to choose Akshay on your own. Oh I am so
glad. Akshay just told me this." Then when she leaves, madhuri turns
around and the memories of the childhood come flashing before her.
She standing in rain, and Akshay's mom and dad standing opposite her.
Mom opens her arms for her. The scene disappears but the impact
remains. Madhuri later refuses Shahrukh and decides to go with
Akshay.
Maine pyaar kiya
"This is strange, she said once and you stopped smoking" a friend asks
Salman as he threw his cigarette when asked by Bhagyashree.
Bhagyashree says, "dosti ki hai, nibhani to padegi". (I can't
translate this to english, the meaning goes away).
When harry met sally
Meg ryan and Billy crystal have some heated argument on some
thing. Meg gives a long lecture. Billy asks "are you done. can I say
something". "Ya" "I am sorry" and they hug and make up. It was nice to
see right emotions at the right time without any ego. Also I felt sad
when Meg cried the hell out of her, when she comes to know about her
ex' getting married. "He didn't want to get married. I was wrong. He
didn't want to get married to me."

Hero: If you can wish for anything in this world now what would it
be. Heroine: I guess go to paris and spend the weekend there. Next day
they fly to paris.
