Work Collage2

I work on human-computer interaction methods for wearable computing systems. Since screen sizes (e.g., those of eyeglass-based displays) are very small, graphical user interfaces are needed that utilize screen space sparingly, do not require on-screen cursor navigation, and are minimally distracting. Furthermore, input devices and methods are needed that are very small in size, wearable, and versatile, that rely minimally on visual feedback, and that may be operated quickly, and possibly inconspicuously, in a socially acceptable manner.

So far I have created three different input systems and graphical user interfaces to meet these constraints. The first targets wearable systems with head-worn displays, the second and third target wrist-worn watch-style computing systems. In addition to their applicability to the wearable computing domain, the results of my work can also be used in virtual reality, mobile augmented reality, ubiquitous computing, and even in-car computing systems, since the requirements and limitations of these platforms are highly similar.
