Salvatore J. Stolfo is Professor of Computer Science at Columbia University. He received his Ph.D. from NYU
Courant Institute in 1979 and has been on the faculty of Columbia ever since. He has published extensively
in the areas of parallel computing, AI Knowledge-based systems, Data Mining and most recently Computer Security
and Intrusion Detection Systems. His research has been supported by DARPA, NSF, ONR, and numerous companies and
state and federal agencies.

Malek Ben Salem is a second-year PhD student in the Computer Science Department
of Columbia University. Malek's research interests lie in Machine Learning and
Data Mining techniques applied to computer security, and in particular to intrsuion detection.
Malek is currently working on host-based approaches to the detetion of insider attacks.
Malek has earned a MS from Columbia University in Computer Science.
She also holds a MS and a BS in Electrical Engineeand from the University
of Hannover, Germany. .

Gabriela Cretu
is a fourth year PhD
student in Computer Science Department of Columbia University. She is
currently working on methods for improving the quality of training datasets
and models for AD systems. She got her MS from Columbia University in
Computer Science and BS from Politechnical University of Bucharest in
Computer Engineering.

Vanessa Frias-Martinez is a fifth year PhD student at Columbia University. Her main interest
is applied learning algorithms for real-time environments. She is currently
working in the use of anomaly detection systems for behavior-based access control .

Wei-Jen Li is a fifth year PhD. He has worked in Intrusion Detection Systems Lab for a long time.
His current interesting project is SPARSE, Statistical Parser. He is also planning to
start another project which will focus on detection of insider attacks.

Yingbo Song is a second year PhD student. His research is in machine
learning, network security and their intersection in intrusion detection
systems. He previously worked on shellcode polymorphism, unsupervised
learning for time-series data, semi-parametric learning and text
classification. His current research efforts are in unsupervised
learning for time-series data. In particular, modeling, clustering and
embedding network flow using hidden Markov models.

Stefano Pacifico is a first year Master of Science in Computer science student at Columbia University.
His research interests currently include
Autonomous Agents, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and their
applications to Intrusion Detection. In the past he also focused on Rescue
Robotics in the SIED Laboratory in Rome. He is currently working on user
behavior modeling for anomaly detection.

Deepti Rao is a 1st year Masters' student working in the Syscalls Anomaly project.

Joseph Sherrick is a first year Masters student in the Computer
Science Department at Columbia University. He received his BS from
NJIT in Computer Engineering. He is currently working on the
feasibility of non-content based modeling in the context of
behavior-based access control. He has worked for a research and
development agency the past 4 years in the fields of information
assurance and radio communications.
