Malek Ben Salem is a second-year PhD student in the Computer Science Department of Columbia University. Malek's research interests lie in Machine Learning and Data Mining techniques applied to computer security, and in particular to intrsuion detection. Malek is currently working on host-based approaches to the detetion of insider attacks. Malek has earned a MS from Columbia University in Computer Science. She also holds a MS and a BS in Electrical Engineeand from the University of Hannover, Germany. .
Brian M. Bowen is a 1st year PhD student.
Gabriela Cretu is a fourth year PhD student in Computer Science Department of Columbia University. She is currently working on methods for improving the quality of training datasets and models for AD systems. She got her MS from Columbia University in Computer Science and BS from Politechnical University of Bucharest in Computer Engineering.
Vanessa Frias-Martinez is a fifth year PhD student at Columbia University. Her main interest is applied learning algorithms for real-time environments. She is currently working in the use of anomaly detection systems for behavior-based access control .
Wei-Jen Li is a fifth year PhD. He has worked in Intrusion Detection Systems Lab for a long time. His current interesting project is SPARSE, Statistical Parser. He is also planning to start another project which will focus on detection of insider attacks.
Yingbo Song is a second year PhD student. His research is in machine learning, network security and their intersection in intrusion detection systems. He previously worked on shellcode polymorphism, unsupervised learning for time-series data, semi-parametric learning and text classification. His current research efforts are in unsupervised learning for time-series data. In particular, modeling, clustering and embedding network flow using hidden Markov models.
